Hello, and welcome to this Grubhub dashboard walkthrough. In this video, we’ll show you how to create a segment in the dashboard by using the upload list option.
Segmentation allows you to gather groups of customers based on demographics and spending habits. Those segments can then be used to pull large amounts of customer data or target certain customers for promotions..
Our dashboard offers the option of uploading your own list of users for a segment. Note that, unlike the dynamic segments created using the segment builder tool, this option creates a static list.
To do so click the Segments tab on the left-hand panel. From the drop-down menu, click + New Segment. Under the “Create your Segment” section, click Select under “Upload list.” This will present you with new fields to build your new segment.
First enter the name of the segment under “Segment Name” – this will be for your records and not visible to customers. Next, you will need to prepare a .txt file that contains the email addresses or loyalty IDs of the users who you would like to include. Your file should have no headers and no special formatting. There should only be one column that includes the emails and/or loyalty IDs. It’s okay for one file to contain both emails and loyalty IDs. Note that if a user on this list has not transacted with your brand or registered for the app or website, they will not be included in the segment. Then, under “Upload list” click Choose file and select the .txt file that you created for this segment.
Click Save segment to save your segment. You can view your segment in the “View Segments” tab where you can edit, delete, or download the segment data as a CSV file. This will be sent to the email address you use to sign into the dashboard.
